law, business litigation,
construction law, and
public policy and governmental relations.

Brandon
has experience assisting employers in all areas of labor and
employment law, including representing and advising clients
in discrimination and wrongful termination litigation, breach
of contract and employee handbook matters, non-compete agreements,
severance benefits, ERISA disputes, and workers compensation
premium and classification audits. His practice involves counseling
clients on avoiding litigation arising under federal and state
employment laws, including Title VII, ADA, FMLA, ADEA, and
FLSA. Brandon also has experience representing employers in
traditional labor matters, including union avoidance and unfair
labor practices before the National Labor Relations Board.
Prior to joining Hagood & Kerr, Brandon
served as Deputy Chief Counsel to Governor Mark Sanford. In
this capacity, he advised the governor on legal issues regarding
executive authority, legislation, and other public policy
matters. Brandon also represented the governor and supervised
outside counsel representing the governor in litigation arising
from his official role as the chief executive of the State
of South Carolina. His role also included serving as the Office
of the Governor’s liaison to the South Carolina Budget
& Control Board and State Ports Authority. Currently,
Brandon continues to serve on the Board of Directors for the
Jasper Ocean Terminal Joint Project Office.
Brandon
received his Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law
Center. While in law school, Brandon worked as a law clerk
for the Republican National Committee, where he assisted on
election law and campaign finance matters. Prior to attending
Georgetown, Brandon received his B.A. in English and History
from the University of South Carolina, where he also graduated
with Honors from the South Carolina Honors College.
